The Dog Whisperer
“Spiritual fulfillment doesn't have to mean belief in a religion or disbelief in science... Whether one believes in an unseen, all-knowing force, or the wonder of science and the universe, or simply the beauty of the human spirit, nearly every one of us feels an inner longing to feel part of something bigger than ourselves.”
- Cesar Millan
I love this guy... not just because I'm a dog lover. Do you know his -story- ? He came to America to better his life. He began his journey here as a very young homeless man living under a highway overpass. He immediately started a job search, no easy feat under the circumstances. His first job was at a dog grooming facility , existing on those lovely convenience store hot dogs and water. As it became clear he had a natural way with dogs...he was eventually able to create the Pacific Point Canine Academy. Jada Pinkett Smith became one of Millan's first clients and supporters, (he was at that time also a limousine driver) - and she provided him with an English tutor for a year. Then, Cesar created the Dog Psychology Center, a 2-acre facility in South Los Angeles —specializing in working with large breed dogs. Nat Geo took notice and we all know him now as the Dog Whisperer. He has also been open about his struggle with depression, hoping to help others who might be suffering as well.
Cesar, you will never read this, I'm sure.. but I'm putting it out into the Universe anyway.. you're a class act all the way. The world is a better place because you are in it.

Love this! :)
ReplyDeleteCesar has his detractors, but I am not one of them. He puts out common sense advice and is responsible for saving who-knows-how-many dogs in the process. I'm a fan.
ReplyDeleteI do know his story and have been a huge fan for many, many years! I was thrilled to find him recently with a new show. I'd been missing him and needing my Cesar fix!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of this guy, but anybody who loves animals is pretty special people.
ReplyDeleteI have been needing to pick a charity to donate to and I want to donate to a second change dog shelter, however my faith says humans is who we should help?
my animals have been smarter and more loving than any human friend or husband LOL
Oh I just love that guy. Have read 2 of his books. One on his story, and one on his training techniques. He shares a story of being a kid, and where ever it was he was playing there were packs of dogs. He said he used to just watch the pack, and thats how he came to understand how dogs interact in a pack. Sooo interesting. His training techniques, as anyone who has tried them knows, they work. What a interesting guy.
ReplyDeleteAnd I like how you said, you're putting it out to the universe...that a refrain said and heard at our house quite frequently. Nice post Karen.
Isn't he the best? I learned so much from him and our dogs both benefitted because WE got better at knowing how to take care of them. I do love that you've shared his story too!
ReplyDeleteA fine individual and such an example to all of us.
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice tribute to this man. Depression is a terrible thing and I have several friends who struggle with clinical depression. Sounds like this is a very special man! xo Diana
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing his story. You just have to look at the photo to know he is a good person, all the dogs are smiling :)
