Every time I think --- well, this can't possibly go on, surely someone of authority will stand up and put an end to this nonsense. ...every time..... nothing. I keep calling my mother, who is very politically savvy, has been around a while and been involved in politics for many years on local levels. I say... have enough wheels fallen off that bus yet??... and the response is a much more patient one than my own... these things take time, Karen.
Well, hell... how much "time" do we all need to believe what 45 is telling us every.single.day... that he is unhinged, that he is vindictive, that he lies, he tweets inappropriate, obnoxious absolute crap that is an embarrassment to our country, that he's destroying the integrity of the office he holds, that he has the tolerance, patience, and virtues of a flea... and you know, that comparison is not even fair to fleas. Their infestation and leaching off other creatures is for survival means only. They don't know any better.
What an absolute a$$. What bothers me more, is witnessing fellow Americans cheering his hideous behavior on. This isn't just about policy, folks. I am not a republican hater, I am not a far lefter, I'm not a "Snowflake" crying because my party lost. I don't have a party. WE ALL LOST when this idiot came to dismantle the integrity of our country. He's not making America great again, he's dismantling it with his total disrespect. And make no mistake, that was his goal. That was Bann*n's goal.. and we're letting them get away with it. How very, very tragic. It's horrifying to watch if you're a person who actually gives a shit about decency. That word in particular. \
This latest twitter sh*tstorm with the Morning Joe show and Mika B.... I will say I think the media has taken far too much power, slanting the news toward their own leanings for a long time - that's wrong. I think making fun of the President's hand size is childish. They aren't the leader of the free world, though. The POTUS... should have the wherewithall to refrain from such vile responses... the world is watching. He works for We the People, not the other way around. We deserve better... we deserve a responsible adult to respresent us, not a whining narcissistic bully.
WTF. W.... T.....F.
I adopted another dog in part, I think, because I am desperate to see more of and be part of and encourage the GOOD in people. This weekend I will support a rescue down in Georgia by adopting one of her charges and make a monetary donation to her rescue to help with expenses. This woman goes without nice things so she can pull yet another of the 1000's of homeless dogs/puppies that are throw aways. I will meet two ladies at a commuter lot in New Haven after they have driven over 30 hours with about 30 dogs who have found a new life is waiting for them up North. If you're not familiar with the I-95 corridor running north to south and vice versa - it's a jungle. And it's the fourth of July weekend - God Bless Them.
I'll keep you posted on -Sally's- arrival. Not sure we'll keep her name yet.. have to meet the little girl to know if it suits her. She doesn't know it as her name yet, so we're good there. This picture was sent to me just now by her rescue... she's on her way to transport pick up. I'm in love already. See you soon, Sally girl.
I'll be bold here and ask one thing of you.... No matter what your political affiliation, please above all else, stand up for and demand truth, integrity, decency.. from our leaders. Please don't condone childish juvenile bully behavior. Our children are watching, the world is watching..... the integrity of our future depends on it.

Be well, friends, and have a safe holiday weekend.

I've never posted on your blog before, but I've been reading for a while. I truly enjoy your commentary on 45 and we are in complete agreement! Congratulations, and keep the new dog's name Sally! It's a great name and I should know because I've had it for 60 years!
ReplyDeleteSally - I think you're absolutely right - the other Sally I am very fond of is a very good and decent soul too... Thanks for stopping by! -
DeleteThe GOP will let him continue to do whatever he wants as long as he lets them push their agenda. And the people who voted for him, well they really don't care. And it's really tragic. I strongly believe in term limits because watching all the old white men in Congress makes me want to scream. I know people who voted for 45, people I like and see almost every day. They really don't care what he says or does. It is beyond reason. In good news, I can't wait to see Sally settle into your home.
ReplyDeleteMitch in particular needs to slither back under the rock he originated from - but yes, yes, yes - Term limits!
DeleteYou know, I was watching an old episode of "Designing Women" last night where it features the Clarence Thomas hearings. I got boiling mad all over again because of the good ol' boy and the "evangelical one-issue" network who elected this child to the highest office in the western world. Not one damn thing has changed, and white men are still running things to the exclusion of rest of us. I honestly do not know who they think they are!! And, to add insult to injury, I would bet a paycheck they will give him a second term. I know the people in the bass-akward state I live in will!
ReplyDeleteMiss Sally is darling, and I am so glad she has found a home with you. I would love to have another, but Miss Lillie is with me because she does not do well with other dogs. She belonged to my boss's mom, and my boss has five rescue dogs (all 65 lbs. and bigger)of her own, and Lillie did...not...like being one of a herd. Now, she has her own home, her own family, and does not have to share with anyone!
Omg, omg,omg - Clarence Thomas. Yep, soulless old rich white men are running this country. I am sick of it, and am ready to revolt. Not one Republican man voted for equal pay for women. WTH?
DeleteWith you ALL THE WAY, Peggy Joan - thank you for stopping by! And for your kind heart with your rescue pup who needs to be an only child :-)
DeleteKaren, thanks much for this post! I have been in a state since November 8, but this is a new low. 45 needs to be fired NOW. I live in Trumpville, and at least here his win was based 100%n on racism. I have repeatedly asked Christians how they could support soulless 45 with his antithetical views on minorities, the disabled, the disenfranchised, etc., etc., etc. I am furious that Congress has not yet taken action! We need a revolution NOW (said the aging hippie). :/
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, CT is a blue state, and it has become half Trumpville - flabbergasting! Congress is spineless, apparently.
DeleteYep, so is my state - Illinois! Chicago blue.....rest red. I had a trump scarecrow with a sign "If I only Had a Brain", and he was decapitated twice.
DeleteI totally agree with you. I tweeted our Republican congressman this morning and asked if he couldn't' somehow stop Trump from threatening people. We have to keep prodding them so they'll worry about getting re-elected. I have found myself having to retreat from some of the news, especially while the shingles was so bad, because I was so completely stressed by the fact that our country is not "our" country any more. Much more of Trump and we'll turn into N. Korea.
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Good for you, Brenda- for having the courage to DO SOMETHING!! Anything is much better than nothing - and you really do need to stay away from stress, I applaud you for stepping in anyway. If we each just do one little thing, the ripples go out...
DeleteOh, I was so immersed in thinking politics that I forgot to say Sally looks beautiful. You are a wonderful woman who shows it all the time through what you do for those (animals) that can't do for themselves. High-fiving you!
ReplyDeleteBrenda
Thank you, friend :-)
DeleteOne of my favorite names has always been Sally Sue..She looks like one to me.
ReplyDeleteOK so here is what terrifies me . What is happening in our country is far too similar to what happened in Germany pre Hitler:
From 1930 onwards President Hindenburg used emergency powers to back Chancellors Heinrich Brüning, Franz von Papen and General Kurt von Schleicher. The Great Depression, exacerbated by Brüning's policy of deflation, led to a surge in unemployment.[6] In 1933, Hindenburg appointed Adolf Hitler as Chancellor with the Nazi Party being part of a coalition government. The Nazis held two out of the remaining ten cabinet seats. Von Papen as Vice Chancellor was intended to be the "éminence grise" who would keep Hitler under control, using his close personal connection to Hindenburg. Within months the Reichstag Fire Decree and the Enabling Act of 1933 had brought about a state of emergency: it wiped out constitutional governance and civil liberties. Hitler's seizure of power (Machtergreifung) was permissive of government by decree without legislative participation. These events brought the republic to an end: as democracy collapsed, a single-party state founded the Nazi era.
and the people stood by and saluted what they thought would rescue them.. and pretended to be unaware of atrocities and the purgings and false arrests, and that was exacerbated by the lack of free press.
eerily familiar
I find that history fascinating.. and horrifying. Eerily familiar indeed. Why is it so hard to remember past lessons learned.
DeleteYou might be interested in reading the novel "Children and Fire" by Ursula Hegi. The fire in the title is the Reichstag fire and the main character is a teacher whose pupils are much affected by the encroaching power of Nazism. She walks a thin line between going along with the take over of education and her personal view of herself. A powerful passage about her thinking .."Until now she had taken for granted that she had moral courage, but suddenly she didn't know if it was possible to defer moral courage, conserve it, and if it would still be there for her, or if each moment like this would take her into another silent agreement and another yet, until she'd find herself agreeing to what she'd never imagined, and she would have to adjust what she believed about herself."
DeleteWe are an impatient lot in this 21st century world but the drip, drip, drip, and the self made holes in the road will bring this sucker down and the final final wheel of the Trump 18 wheeler bus will come off. And when the tow truck comes and pulls the thing away, it will reveal all those "loyal" enablers that Trump eventually threw under it.
ReplyDeleteBiblical( I think) saying from this non biblical person: "The mills of God grind slowly but they grind exceeding small."
I love my mom!
DeleteI also blog about restoring an old house.
ReplyDeleteAlthough in the last year I have, eek, occasionally posted comments about politics, particularly after the nightmare of 11/8/16, and my subsequent depression.
Mostly, my readers have been supportive. But I always get at least one comment from a 45 supporter who is OUTRAGED that I dare voice my opinion. "I'm am never going to read your blog again!"
Such delicate snowflakes.
Well, I am delighted to find in you a kindred spirit!
Much love,
Ross
Well hello, Ross! And thanks for joining the conversation. I'll have to look for your blog! Don't be afraid to voice your concerns.. we all need to call out the crap when we see it.
DeleteBest wishes to Sally. She will have such a wonderful life with you and your gang. And I agree: the people who do these transports, especially from the high-kill shelters in the south, are true angels.
ReplyDeleteWas today a new low for Trump, with the CNN-bashing tweet? Every day I think it can't get any worse, and then it does. Such a disgrace to the office, regardless of his party. And that Huckabee Sanders woman is a complete and utter fool.
Thank you, Elle - always appreciate your comments. Yeah, that tweeting. Just when you think he can't sink lower.... As for Spicer and Sanders... I don't know how they look at themselves in the mirror each morning. Truth.
DeleteHello dear bloggie friend! Just catching up on your last three posts and will add my comments to all here in one. 45 is nuts. I too keep thinking somebody, or some group, will put a stop to him. I continue to be shocked when I thought I could no longer be surprised by something he says or does. Sean Spicer and VP Pence have completely disappeared. The amount of destruction being done to the relationships with our allies is nuts. It seems that most people understand that he is completely unhinged except for a small fraction of the population. Last week I was at a stoplight of a Trump voter with stickers all over his windows saying that Hilary lies, blah, blah blah. So ironic.
ReplyDeleteNo onto the good stuff. I love turtles and stop most of the time I see one. Just saved one last week in fact. I'm sure you know to put them on the side of the road in the direction they were headed.
Little Sally is adorable. I have four dogs of my own, plus a foster, and four cats, plus a foster. And a few other critters. I love advocating for the animals and helping to save lives. I know animals are mistreated in every state and the world over but the south definitely has a bad reputation when it comes to spay/neuter. I could type forever about that subject and I cringe when I see an "in tact" male dog, which I frequently do. I approach the owners and very gently and casually ask if they are going to neuter and tell them the cheaper options we have around here. Sometimes the people jump all over me but it doesn't stop me.
OK - this is too long. Love your posts. I wish I lived closer to you. We would have so much fun saving lives and decorating. As a bonus, I love cleaning up after horses :) I know - I'm kind of nuts.
xoxo
Never too long, Phyllis, always love hearing from you. You're a good soul! Jeez I sure wish you lived nearby too - I can always use help cleaning up after horses.. lol. You're not nuts, unless I am too, Let's say we're passionate :-)
DeleteI really enjoyed your comments about the Big Orange Toddler (another blogger's name for 45). I take some comfort in the pushback the GOP is getting on some issues such as the Anti-Health Care Act, or Trumpcare as it's appropriately called because it's mean and cruel! And by the States refusing to play along with the voter-fraud "fake news" promoted by Trump. (It's way more likely that the Trump campaign committed fraud, given his track record, than the Democrats.) The old so-and-so isn't just a disgrace to the Presidency, but to the human race. He may try to say that his is the "new way of doing things" but that doesn't mean the rest of us have to accept it! I'm disgusted with lots of the "old ways" of politics, but Trump's ways are even worse. As for his shaking things up and bringing change (apparently the reason many people voted for him)--well, 9/11/01 shook things up and brought change too. The 'American Way" faces a greater threat from Trump & Co than from Al-Qaeda & ISIS put together.
ReplyDeleteEnd of rant.
Sally is sooo cute! Love the Sister Bertrille ears. I wonder if she could be part bully-breed--she looks a lot like my pittie mix who's also very smart.
Best wishes for Sally & you-all in your new life together!
SO FUNNY, Marty!! I've been calling her the Flying Nun!!... She does look like sister Bertrille with those ears!... You know, if she weren't so little ( like 8 lbs at 4 months) , I'd say she has some pittie mix in her.
DeleteWow, absolutely fantastic blog. I am very glad to have such useful information.
