Won't you share here in the comments section - an enjoyable moment or experience you've had this summer - If you've got a blog, dedicate a post to this and title it "Lived Moments For Vicky". Copy and paste the link to your blog post in my comments section below this post. A few photos you've taken or an uplifting experience or story you have to tell would be awesome.
I don't have the readership I used to here on this blog, but lets see what we can generate from those of you who still drop by -
Vicky - these pictures were taken yesterday in Newport, RI. Not at the mansions, where so many venture - but down at the water, where people enjoy the simplest pleasures - my favorite Newport experience.

I'm still here :) And, as always God opens the doors that we need Him to in His own time. I've been searching and searching for an active blogger who blogs through treatment. Just something...anything to help me help my mom. And, this morning, through you, He provided. My posts have also been few and far between because I feel my brain swirling around into never never land. You have no idea how much I appreciate you giving me the outlet I've been looking for!! I'll spend the morning re-reading all of Vicky's posts and then I'll fashion a post for her just as you suggested!!! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteKaren, when you get it right, YOU really get it RIGHT! Yes! This!! The simple pleasures of time well spent. Your pictures speak volumes to me and I am so touched. Thank you for the new header!! Thank you for honoring me, in this way :) So much love to you~
ReplyDeleteKaren, your photos are fabulous; what a great eye! I must admit, I lived more moments when Dave was alive and going thru treatments than I do now. I am struggling, and sometimes succeeding, in coming back to life. It's a process and a journey but if there's one thing I hate and despise, it's the words "new normal"...yuck, spit, vomit.
ReplyDeleteAs Heraclitus said, "it is what it is" and there's nothing normal about it, new or otherwise when one's life is consumed with struggle. Others may have different mileage and that's all right too, it doesn't lessen either of us.
Slog on, mate. It'll be better, if not now then in the sweet by and by.
Forgot to say to Patti, check out http://whitneycox.thislittlelightofmine.net/ who is a young mother blogger who has been going thru chemo for a while and just received good news.
ReplyDeleteI'm still here too! What is summer, but the simple joys of enjoying our children, hot weather, garden tomatoes, and good friends.
ReplyDeleteI had some enjoyable moments with my Daughter and two of my grands last week. Those moments have become few and far between since she moved away. Will be spending more moments tomorrow, watching them swim. Won't be long until school starts back and I'll be having to look back on the moments we've been able to spend together.
ReplyDeleteSending good thoughts to you Vicky while you fight the fight! Pop on over to http://oceanbreezesandcountrysneezes.blogspot.com if you'd like a break - and if hungry search for pies!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen!
I started following Vicki's blog and FB page after you posted about what a special soul she is a few months back. I really hope this post uplifts her. I wish her all the best during these difficult days.
ReplyDeleteI love your Newport pictures---I'd love to be near the east coast. We've had a very uneventful summer thus far but for the occasional family get together and of course, having little Elsie enter our lives in February. I love that your grandmother was also named Elsie and that you hold her wonderful characteristics close to your heart.
Hope your summer is going great!

Karen, I've always enjoyed reading your blog and am glad that you decided to not stay away permanently. Vicki, you don't know me at all, but I'm sending a cyber hello. My joys this summer are just the little things, but the ones that mean the most. My flowers which are in the stages right now, so much colour, this wonderful weather we are having in Ontario after two very cold summers in a row, enjoying some family time in our pool (which is finally warm enough to enjoy!), watching hummingbirds at the feeder,... I hope this moment finds you feeling well and contented. All the best, Jenn
ReplyDeleteWell, I love you both, Karen, AND Vicky. Two special people.
ReplyDeleteI agree that "new Normal" kind of sucks. What life throws you is sometimes new, but not always normal.
Everyone just does the best they can with the hand they are dealt.
Vicky just happens to do it so much better than anyone I've ever known.
